With a daring, few have seen
walking with an air of stability
into a room crowded with intimacy
I found a barren table
my mind must have been unstable
sitting there quite unable
to block the view from distant tables
pretending all is normal
as fearful thoughts race through my mind
evil thoughts, I thought, they thought
must be racing through their minds
but who am I to judge what’s normal
finally in a desperate moment
reaching into my open lunch bucket
grasping what I thought would be
a venture from reality
forgetting all the daily chatter
predicting news that doesn’t matter
I open up my book to read
indifference surrounding me

A woodland path
measured in length
one step, deliberately placed
within a framework of silence
then, a second step,
without fear discovering
an awareness of a world
forgotten by time
revealed as a vision
if I’m willing to listen
if I’m willing to see
prepared to experience
Life as only God knows it
located deliberately in a
silent world reached only by,
then a third step
